Újabb top 10-es eredmény Kovács Bálinttól a Bol d’Oron

Kovács Bálint is had another successful endurance world championship weekend: as a member of Maco Racing Team, the H-Moto Team rider competed in the Superbike field at the season’s final 24-hour race, the 101st Bol d’Or, held in Le Castellet, France. Maco Racing started the marathon race from the 22nd position and managed to catch up with the front runners, completing 693 laps. Kovács Bálint, supported by HUMDA Academy, repeated his fantastic 6th place from last year’s race at the 101st Bol d’Or with his teammates, Enzo Boulom from France and Martin Vugrinec from Croatia. They finished 6th in the Superbike category and 8th overall out of 47 teams. With this result, Maco Racing ended the 2023 season in 8th place.

„It’s no secret that it was tough to accept our starting position, which was 22nd, during practice and qualifying. Our one-lap pace was much better at Le Mans and Spa, and we also lacked power compared to last year. The fact that it started pouring rain two hours before the race and there were hardly any dry patches on the track at the start didn’t help either. Despite this, Enzo decided to go with slick tires, which paid off as we gained ten positions after the first change. We managed to maintain a good pace, had no technical issues, and didn’t waste any time during the pit stops. The Yamaha held up throughout, and I think this was the maximum we could extract from this race. With our current results, Maco finished 8th overall, which considering the issues we faced during the season, is a respectable achievement,” said Kovács Bálint.

The owner of H-Moto Team, Krisztián Kelemen, closely followed Kovács Bálint’s performance on-site and was very proud of him after the end of the race: „These races cause incredible emotional roller coasters for someone in those 24 hours. From the start, we worry about the pace and fast laps, and towards the end, we only hope that nothing extraordinary happens to the rider and the bike. It’s exhausting, both as a helper and even more so as a rider. Every rider has to push their physical limits unbelievably, and only a few are capable of maintaining a constant performance throughout the race. I’m proud that a Hungarian rider belongs among the best in this World Championship series. It’s the icing on the cake for me that he’s my mentee. I hope we can attract the attention of more Hungarians to our sport and our rider. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible for Bálint to proudly represent Hungary,” said Kelemen Krisztián.
At the same time, Kovács Bálint doesn’t have much time to rest, as he has his next appearance at the season-ending race of the German Championship (IDM) in Hockenheim this weekend.
