Colin McRae won his first victory at the Gods’ Race in 1996, already as a world champion, with a remarkably confident performance. As a factory driver for Subaru, he won ten out of twenty-one stages and achieved a start-to-finish victory. Although there were some problems with the Subaru Impreza 555 at the end of the race, the Japanese manufacturer’s mechanics managed to solve them, and Colin McRae ultimately won with a 50-second lead over Tommi Makinen.
